Who it is for
Every page is written for parents and carers of a baby, child or teenager who needs a general anaesthetic in Australia, and answers one practical question for them. The guide does not describe Dr Aly’s own clinical services or say where he works. His main website, drwalidaly.com.au, covers his practice, and this guide links to it rather than repeating it.
How pages are written
Altitude Creative researches and drafts each page for Dr Aly. AI writing tools may help with drafting. A person checks every statement, figure and quotation against the sources listed on the page, and no information about any patient or child is ever put into an AI tool.
Where Australian sources disagree, as they currently do on some fasting times, the page says so and explains which instruction to follow, rather than quietly picking one.
Clinical review
Clinical pages show who wrote them, the status of their clinical review, and the dates of the last and next review. A page is shown as reviewed only once a named clinician has reviewed it; until then it says “Clinical review: in progress”. Pages are reviewed at least once a year, and sooner when the guidance they rely on changes. The fasting page, for example, is rechecked whenever ANZCA revises its fasting guideline.
Sources
We use current Australian guidance first: the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA), The Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne, healthdirect, Victoria’s Better Health Channel, the Australian Society of Anaesthetists, and peak bodies such as the Sleep Health Foundation and Raising Children Network. Quotations are short and attributed, and professional documents are linked rather than copied.
What this guide never publishes
Health advertising in Australia is governed by the National Law and Ahpra’s advertising guidelines. So this guide does not publish:
- testimonials, reviews, patient or family stories, or endorsements of anyone’s clinical skill
- claims that an anaesthetic is painless, risk-free or guaranteed to go a particular way
- superlatives about any practitioner or service, such as “best” or “leading”
- prices, discounts or offers
- brand names of medicines
- unverifiable claims or numbers about Dr Aly.
Facts about Dr Aly come from the Ahpra public register. Anything taken from his April 2024 CV is introduced with “His 2024 CV records”.
Images
The guide uses typography, diagrams and brand graphics. It does not show photographs of children, patients, procedures or hospitals. If illustrations are ever added, they will be labelled and never presented as real people or places.
Independence
There is no advertising or sponsored content, and no company pays for anything published here. The guide is published by Dr Aly, a Specialist Anaesthetist, and every page says so.
