General information only

Everything on paediatricanaesthesia.com.au is general information for parents and carers about anaesthesia for children in Australia. It is not medical advice about your child, and reading it does not make Dr Walid Aly your child’s doctor or create any professional relationship.

Your child’s team comes first

Every child is different, and hospitals organise things differently. Where the guide differs from what your child’s anaesthetist, surgeon, dentist or hospital tells you, including about fasting times, medicines, pain relief or going home, follow their instructions. If you are unsure, ask them.

Emergencies

In an emergency, call 000. This website and its contact form are not monitored for urgent messages, and you should never wait for a reply from it if your child is unwell.

Accuracy and dates

We work to keep the guide accurate and current, and each page shows when it was written and the status of its clinical review. Guidance changes, so a page may not reflect a change made after its date. If you notice something out of date, please tell us.

Other websites

The guide links to other organisations, such as ANZCA, The Royal Children’s Hospital and healthdirect, because they are useful sources. We do not control those websites and are not responsible for their content or availability.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, Dr Aly and Altitude Creative are not liable for any loss or harm arising from reliance on general information on this website. Nothing in this disclaimer excludes rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law.

Questions

Still wondering about something?

Your child’s own anaesthetist is the right person for questions about their anaesthetic, and you can ask to speak with them before the day. For a question about this guide, send a message or phone. Please leave your child’s medical details out of website messages.
